First Day

Our trial run yesterday went great but this morning we only had time for family prayer so my girls missed that nugget from the scriptures to shape their day.

Darn it.

But McCall did get her hair curled.

Important stuff for the first day.

We are so excited about our teachers this year. They are all great!

This is going to be an amazing year!

My only gripe would be I wish they had a kindergarten schedule that worked with the early bird schedule so that one more could be part of this group going or coming from school.
Oh well!

Visitors and a BBQ

We had some visitors at our house last Friday.

They were staying behind our BBQ out back.

As I watered tomato plants I thought, we haven't BBQ all summer, I need to pull it out and uncover it and clean it up so we can BBQ.

As I sprayed out dead leaves a couple cob webs, that is when I heard the meowing.

The mother had run off without my noticing but she paced trying to get to her crying babies.

The girls had a fun 20 minutes playing with the visitors...

They named them... midnight and cloudy...

Then the nice officer from Animal Control took them away...

Someone was not very happy about that.

Is that blame in those dark brown eyes???

Now my kids can say they had pet kittens.
See we are not such mean pet-less parents after all.

Jackie

Oh to be so fabulous!

I am so in awe of Jackie. If I saw this outfit walking down the street today I would turn and think she was as wonderfully put together and fabulous as she was years ago at the time of this snapshot.

Right Way

The other day as I was spreading some miracle whip or peanut butter on bread around noon,

I started to ponder...

Now, sometimes this is very dangerous but this time my wanderings were fairly harmless.

So I started thinking...

Why is it we always eat sandwiches from the top down?

I don't get it.

One could start from any place on the sandwich but it is always the top.

I decided that I am going to go against the grain and start eating my sandwiches from the bottom...

but I always forget.

I mean, come on, after 35 years of eating sandwiches from the top it's a hard habit to break.

One day I could eat it from the right, the next day from the left.

This change up in the routine could probably be considered calisthenics for the brain.

Probably.

Food for thought.

Easter... err... in July

Someone missed Easter...
Saturday Morning

The Easter Baskets are always given out on the Saturday before Easter because they have absolutely nothing to do with what Easter is about..seriously NOTHING. At least Christmas is about giving gifts to others. Easter? Nothing like that.

Anyway...
See what that silly rabbit did?

I've seen this a couple times on the internet but seeing it at Shawni's blog I finally decided to make it happen.

Each girl "strangely" woke up with a ball of string under her pillow.

Thankfully no one woke up for a potty break and clothes lined themselves, although the bunny had done their best to hopefully avoid it if the sleeper took a direct path to the bathroom! A thoughtful path was also left for Dad to make his early morning tee time!

This made for much more fun then the typical hunt for the baskets.

Sunday Morning

Love these Five!
